About Catholic Marriage Forum
BRIEF HISTORY
Catholic Marriage Forum is an online apostolate that promotes the good of marriage and family life by organizing monthly conferences for married couples and educating those who offer the service of marriage counselling and marriage education. The forum was founded by Rev. Fr Thaddeus Anyaegbu, O.P on the 15th of July, 2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic. During this period of the pandemic, Fr Thaddeus who was then a theology student at the Dominican Institute (now Dominican University, Ibadan) began a marriage teaching on social media. He emphasized the Catholic position on marriage, human sexuality, and other ethical issues such as IVF, contraceptives and human cloning. The major sources of his teaching were the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Pastoral Gude. His teaching began to attract the interest of some of his social media followers. Shortly, he created a Facebook group and a page for the followers of his teaching. He began video marriage teaching on YouTube and then organised first marriage conference on Facebook which was viewed by over 400 people. He later continued the marriage conferences on Zoom which has now become the major platform for Catholic Marriage Forum monthly conferences. Within five years, the forum boasts of having many followers who follow from different parts of the world. The success of Catholic Marriage Forum has led to the creation of other fora which are: Catholic Marriage Counsellors, Educators and Facilitaors Forum (This forum is primarily for the training of those who counsel married couples and give marriage instruction in parishes and other centres); Catholic Singles Forum (This forum engages young people and help to prepare them for future marriage by organising talks and conferences for them); and Catholic Widows and Widowers Forum (This forum pays special attention to married people who have become widows and widowers).
